The goal of AFPAN is to promote physical activity (PA) for health in all African nations.
Objectives of the network
Provide a focused forum for African professionals, researchers and practitioners in physical activity and health.
Share experiences, practices, programmes and strategies through emails, meetings, conferences, websites and scholarly writing.
Sensitise and develop strategies to disseminate information to various national leaders (Political, religious, cultural, NGOs) on the role of PA in promoting health and the role of leaders in promoting PA.
Coordinate, monitor and evaluate the PA calendar (events/activities) for Africa e.g organise all Africa PA Day / Week.
Organise and hold regular meetings to review and evaluate progress, ensuring communication channels are put in place to minimise communication gaps.
Provide a platform to build regional research opportunities and capacity for physical activity and health.
To partner effectively with other global and regional advocacy networks and councils such as the Global Action for Physical Activity (GAPA), International Society for Physical Activity and Health (ISPAH), Federation Internationale d’Education Physique (FIEP) and Agita Mundo, Health Promotion Education (IUHPE), the World Health Organization (WHO), International Council for Sport and Physical Education and others to promote physical activity for health
