Prof Hanlie Moss (South Africa)

Hanlie Moss is a Research Professor at the Research Focus Areas for Physical Activity, Sport and Recreation at the North-West University, Potchefstroom, South Africa. She received her PhD in Human Movement Sciences in 2000 after completing an MSc in Biochemistry in 1996. She is a registered Biokineticist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa and holds a Master’s in Business Administration.

As a professor in Biokinetics, her research interest is exercise for the prevention and management of risk factors for non-communicable diseases in adults and persons with special needs, such as older persons, pregnant women, persons with depression and persons with intellectual disabilities. Hanlie is a C2 NRF-rated researcher who has published over 65 papers in international peer-reviewed journals and supervised more than 30 post-graduate and post-doctoral students. She is the current editor of the South African Journal for Research in Sport, Physical Education and Recreation.

Prof António Prista (Mozambique)

António Prista is a Full Professor at the Pedagogic University in Maputo, Mozambique. He received his PhD in Sports Sciences (Sports Anthropology) in 1994 at the Faculty of Sports at the Oporto University. He completed the Post-Doctoral Programs at George Washington University and Syracuse University as a Fulbright Scholar, as well as at the São Paulo University in Brazil. Antonio’s research interest in are in growth, motor development and physical activity and health in Africa.

Antonio has published more than 100 papers in journal articles, book chapters, proceedings and books. He is a member of a number of scientific organisations including the chair of the African Physical Activity Network (AFPAN), the Academy of Sciences of Mozambique (ACM), the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and the European College of Sport Science (ECSS). He is a former Dean of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, Pedagogic University, and the National Institute of Physical Education of Mozambique.

Prof Reginald Ocansey (Ghana)

Reginald Ocansey became Professor Emeritus after three decades of active service as a teacher educator, behaviour analyst and physical activity (PA) and sports researcher. Retired in 2007 from The College at Brockport, State University of New York, USA, Reggie has worked in Ghana as Rector (Entrepreneurship Training Institute), Director (Narh-Bita College, School of Exercise Medicine, Sports, and Wellness), Head (Physical Education & Sport Studies, University of Ghana) and now advocate and researcher in PA for health. He is a member of international research groups, including (i) Active Healthy Kids Global Alliance, (ii) Global Observatory for PA, (iii) NEWS-Africa, (iv) Alliance for African Partnerships etc. He is a PI for several funded research projects and the outgoing president of AFPAN (2018-2022).
